TMJ is actually an abbreviation for Temporomandibular Joint, or the jaw
joint.These joints move each time we chew, talk or even swallow. The TMJ
is a sliding joint and not a ball-and-socket like the shoulder. This
sliding allows for pressures placed on the joint to be distributed
throughout the joint and not just in one area.

Often, pain will be felt in the shoulders and
back due to muscle contraction, a condition called myo-fascial pain
dysfunction syndrome. Dizziness, disorientation and even confusion are
also seen in some people who suffer with TMJ. (Myo-Fascial Pain = Pain of
the Muscle Fibers)

A TMJ Massage is one that is applied in a
circular motion and uses moderate to deep pressure, depending on the
severity of the case. The massage is given directly to the joint and
surrounding areas. Along with massage, stretching is also helpful in the
relaxation process. Other treatments, which have proven helpful, include:
