Doctor Pir Henrik Ling developed Swedish massage in the 1700’s using the following:

  Variety of techniques designed to relax muscles
  Applies pressure to muscles, against deeper muscle tissue and bones
  Strokes in the same direction return blood flow to the heart



Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well-being

  Swedish massage increases oxygen flow in the blood stream
  Release toxins from the muscles
  Shortens recovery time from muscular strains
  Flushes tissues of:
   

  Lactic acid
   

  Uric acid
   

  Metabolic waste
  Stretches ligaments and tendons to maintaining pliability
  Stimulates skin and nervous system
  Reduces stress on emotional and physical levels
  Used on a regular basis for stress management



Swedish massage techniques in sequential order:

  Effleurage: Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips
  Petrissage: Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingers
  Friction: Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers
  Vibration: Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body
  Percussion: Brisk hacking or tapping
  Passive and active movements: Bending and stretching

 

  Therapist will arrive 10 minutes before start time
  Setup equipment in designated area
  Therapist will leave room for 5 minutes while you disrobe
  All full body massages exclude the breasts and genitals
